ETERNAL collects the photographic work of the Danish photographer Michael Utzons (born 1984) until today. The photographs are supplemented by short texts by mag.art. and curator at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum Maria Kappel Blegvad, artist Nicky Sparre-Ulrich and photographer Keld Helmer-Petersen.
Throughout his life, Michael Utzon has photographed, and as a child he spent countless hours in the darkroom, where he was introduced to photography under the guidance of his grandfather, the groundbreaking Danish photographer, Keld Helmer-Petersen. During a stay in New York in 2013, Utzon truly developed his own proprietary language, characterized by organic and colorful images in a strict graphical composition. Utzon's eyes are attached to things from everyday life as he moves so close that they often appear unrecognizable and abstract. Instead, he lets confluent colors and graphic patterns emerge. HIs photographs bear witness to Utzon's unique ability to always see the beautiful in the abstract and sometimes overlooked structures of the everyday.
